The kid's triathlon will start at 10:00 a.m. We will divide kids up at the swim count in corral based on their age and will send them of in waves. Please have your child over at the swim count in corral in Kershaw Park at 9:45 a.m. to receive any last minute instructions. Kids may pick up their packets at any of the designated packet pick up times noted above as well as their race day. This is where your child will be assigned their bib number and swim cap. Body marking will take place next to the swim corral. Kids can place their bikes in the transition area starting at 9:20 a.m. Please make sure that their transition area is set up before they go over to the swim corral. Find the TA map here.
10 and under race: this will be an un-timed “fun” event. Parents may accompany their child the whole way – but please try to stay to the side so that other kids can have room and not a “grown-up” in the way of their race (ALSO please do not bring your own bike, you can run on the sidewalk by them on the bike part)
11+ race: This race will be timed. So parents will be spectators, cheerleaders and HELPERS (see below).
PARENTS: I WILL GREATLY APPRECIATE ANY HELP THAT YOU CAN PROVIDE DURING THE KIDS EVENT. IF YOU ARE WILLING TO HELP GUIDE THE KIDS THROUGH THE RACE, PLEASE LET US KNOW WHEN YOU ARRIVE THAT DAY. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!!
PARKING: Please be aware that both lanes of Lakeshore Dr. will be closed starting at 9:30 a.m. YOU CAN NOT PARK IN STEAMBOAT LANDING. You can park in the public lot by the bath house (swim beach) as well as all other public parking along Lakeshore on the westbound side. The easiest place to park to get in and out is Parkway Plaza on Eastern Blvd (Rt 5&20) and then walk down Muar Street directly to the race site (walk behind the Starbucks in the plaza lot).
- You must pick up your child’s race packet at the Friday packet pickup or BEFORE 9:20 a.m. at the Saturday packet pickup. Packet Pickup info: CLICK HERE
- For ages 10 and under the event will be focused on participation and getting experience while having fun. They will NOT be timed. Parents will be allowed to assist their children on the course throughout.
- For ages 11-14 the event will have more of a competitive atmosphere as it will be timed based on age groups. However, the primary focus will still be having fun and getting experience. Parents will not be allowed to assist their children in this race
- There will be 2 different course lengths based on age (10 & under course and 11-14 course).
